On June 19, 2010, following a year of design conception, acquisition of parts and supplies, coordination of volunteers, donations and purchases, the SS Commdore was christened at the Marysville Strawberry Festival. The SS Commodore was launched and experienced her maiden voyage in the 2010 Marysville Parade. Commandant John Andor featured the hard work of several Commodores, recognizing their spirit of volunteerism and their time and effort in dedication to the Seattle Seafair Commodores. Watch the christening ceremony in the video below.
Interested in riding on the SS Commodore?
The Commodores raise funds for the Scholarship Program for Women partly by offering paid rides on the SS Commodore in many community parades. If you would like to arrange for a ride on the SS Commodore, please contact the Commodores at publicinformationofficer@seattlecommodores.com for more information. Except for the Seattle Torchlight Parade, rides are generally $50 per seat or $500 for 10 seats. All seats are inside the float. Organizations sponsoring the entire float in a parade may be eligible for advertising their cause.
